Brave James blends dreamy alt-pop, maximalist electro production and multi-layered psychedelic vocal harmonies as he whips up a whirlwind of multi-generational influences into a sound that sits right at home in 2021. Those traits both flourish and prosper in his debut single ‘Soldier’, which is out now.
‘Soldier’ is driven by a pulsating rhythm which blends a culture clash of electro-pop grooves and a militaristic marching beat. It’s a startling symphony which takes a surprising twist as Brave James’ heavenly vocals echo around the ether, simultaneously otherworldly unorthodox and swiftly soothing. The song’s percussive march is perfectly apt for the song’s lyrics. It draws poetic parallels between a soldier’s excursion into the unknown and someone’s urgent quest to find some kind of meaning in their life.
Following up on the 2020 release of their second EP ‘All Hail To Your Queen’, Bristol-based atmospheric Alt-Pop quartet Ålesund return with ‘Lightning’, the first single taken from their upcoming EP ‘A Thread In The Dark’, due for release Spring 2021. The increasingly expansive, hauntingly cinematic track is due for release February 26th, with the music video following soon after on March 5th.
After the untimely curtailing of their European Tour in Spring 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Ålesund travelled back to the UK. Alba Torriset retreated to her hometown of Hastings to try and reconnect with music in a positive way.
LOS ANGELES, CA – Singer-songwriter and producer Devin Kennedy has shared his most vulnerable single yet, “Hurt U.” The song shares some details of Kennedy’s own experiences to create a raw, honest story about falling in love.
“Hurt U” follows single releases “Sundress,” a sunshine-infused love letter to your favorite person, and “Mean To Me,” a bold anthem about being your own worst enemy that features buzzing songstress Caroline Kole. The singles have landed Kennedy on playlists including Spotify‘s soda, Chill Pop and Fresh Finds, Apple Music’s Relationship Goals and New In Pop and Amazon Music’s Breakthrough Pop and Brand New Music, as well as earning praise from pop superstar Meghan Trainor.
Since then, Kennedy has written and produced for other artists including Ben Platt, EBEN, Jake Miller, Alex Aiono and more.

I started out studying fashion at college and then furthered in another major of Graphic design. I hung out at fashion shows regularly and the makeup and hair team started to teach me the ropes. I realised it was easier for me to get a hold on than anything I had ever done before and with that confidence I started assisting and scored my first agent 4 years later.

WHEN AND HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY?
I got into makeup about 5 years ago. Originally, I wanted to work on films, so I studied special effects makeup. Somehow, I ended up doing a lot of beauty jobs and photoshoots instead, so it was never exactly something I planned for, but rather a happy coincidence.
